Sounding the clarion call again for a crime-free, drug-free community, The Witte Museum gets ready to host its award-winning National Night Out annual event, kindly sponsored by M & S Imaging for the 2nd year. This year’s outing is set for 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 2 and would rally together key participants in law enforcement, healthcare, crises management and humanity services, civic groups, neighborhood organizations, well-meaning businesses and private citizens.
“We’re once again playing our part in what is now a well-established national safety crusade,” says Ruth Boyer, Manager of Public Safety and Security at The Witte Museum. “It’s all in line with Witte’s prime mission of promoting a quality life for all South Texas people.”

What is National Night Out?
It's America's Night Out Against Crime!
The "22nd Annual National Night Out" (NNO), a unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW), has been scheduled for Tuesday, August 2, 2005.
Last year's National Night Out campaign involved citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over 10,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. In all, over 34 million people participated in NNO 2004.
NATIONAL NIGHT OUT is designed to:
- Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
- Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
