Come right in and see the magnificent circus posters and beautiful costumes from the world famous Hertzberg Collection!
The dazzling splendor of circus costumes and the beauty and allure of the posters that told of the coming attraction are the most visible arts of the circus. They combine with the skillful art of the performers to create the astonishing illusions that led Huckleberry Finn, arguably one of the more famous characters in U.S. literature, to call the circus “the splendidest sight that ever was.”
A highlight of the exhibit are the original drawings by E.P. Roe, one of the earliest artists who worked for Strobridge and Company, the foremost producers of full-color circus posters. |
