| "The Witte Museum has for 80 years embodied the universal goals of museums: to engage the imagination of young and old and provide encounters with artifacts and exhibits only available in museums. The Witte Museum was opened in 1926 at the bend of the San Antonio River and at the Third Entrance to Brackenridge Park. The Witte was at its founding and is still today, 'the people’s museum.'
