Return to main H-E-B Science Treehouse page

H-E-B is responsible for launching this major renovation project, and on March 11 the doors to the H-E-B Science Treehouse will re-open and visitors will find a wide variety of exciting updates and additions!

The Boeing Company has sponsored a major section of the project called Air Power, with new exhibits and graphics packages, including Air Rockets, which teach visitors how action and reaction make rockets work; and Bernouli's Bench, a grouping of table top experiments allowing visitors to observe and experiment with various objects in streams of moving air. Other major exhibit upgrades include Simple Machines, Sound Waves, Energy Underground, Eco-Science and Small World Science.

Starting over on the first floor, everything is being repainted and refitted. "A Colorful Change" is the name of the game, while new exhibits themed as "Airpower," "Ecoscience," "Energy," "Sound," and "Simple Machines" will create a lot of excitement.
On the second floor, new "Take It To the River" installations, sponsored by the San Antonio River Authority, will remain to complement other Ecoscience exhibits and the KENS TV-5 Weather Station.
The revitalization plans also call for the entire interior to receive a facelift including a fresh coat of brightly colored paint, new carpet and color-coded "supergraphics" featuring images from the innovative "The Way Things Work" kiosks. Visitors will also be able to try their hand at being a meteorologist at the KENS-5 Weather Station, generously sponsored by KENS-5 TV. On the H·E·Buddy SkyCycle® visitors can take an exhilarating bicycle ride on a cable wire suspended 12-15 feet in the air, demonstrating counter-balance and center of gravity!
The basement is getting a brighter look as it is converted into an Energy Center, sponsored by City Public Service.

Generously supported by H-E-B, The Boeing Company, George and Fay Young Foundation, Inc., Greehey Family Foundation, The Capital Group Companies / American Funds, IBM, and individual donors to the 2005 Phonathon Campaign.
