Threads of South America provides an in-depth look into a variety of textiles from South America, dating back to 500 BCE and spanning 2,000 years of history. Explore this rich, time-honored tradition through elaborate tapestries, costumes, fragments of early fishing nets and much more. Carefully selected three dimensional artifacts augment the historical textiles by providing cultural context. Many of the textiles’ geometric designs and imagery of humans and animals were echoed in the making of pottery and jewelry.
