This demonstration and open rehearsal for all museum visitors features the training choirs (Prelude, Junior and Choristers) of The Children's Chorus of San Antonio. Free admission.

Battle of Flowers Oratorical Contest

Thundering into the halls of the Witte Museum, the legends and lore of Texas' great trail drives will live again. Listen to students selected from across Texas deliver eloquent and historical dissertations during the 87th Oratorical Contest of the Battle of Flowers Association. This year's theme, "Horns, Hids and Hooves--The Trail Drives of Texas" conjures up images of pioneering adventures and rough hands carving a trail across new lands.

Doors close after each start time and seating limited. The Battle of Flowers Oratorical Contest is included with museum admission.  

Build-it! Science Family Day

Celebrate National Engineers' Week! Meet scientists and engineers to find out what they study, what they build and how they make the world a better place. Don't miss Boy Scouts of America Robotics Explorer Post 42 as they use their LEGO® robot as an example of engineering concepts. Then, join the fun by developing and designing your own LEGO® robot! Plus, 10BitWorkds will be on site providing opportunities to experiment with Snap Circuits®, an award-winning toy that stretches the imagination through discovery and exploration, and RepRap, a replicating rapid prototype that is an amazing 3D printer which takes a digital copy of any object, from a face to a flu virus, and creates a three dimensional copy. Build-it! is included with museum general admission.

Gateway Brass Ensemble GatewayBrass

Comprised of two trumpets, French horn, trombone, tuba and percussion, the Gateway Brass Ensemble is dedicated to presenting a total spectrum of today's music, and is also part of the United States Air Force Band of the West. Enjoy the fanfare! Free admission.
