Kicked off by the UIW Jazz Ensemble in April, this season’s line up brings out some of the best local and regional bands jazz has to offer. Bring the family and enjoy a relaxing afternoon in the calming courtyard, lay down your blankets or lawn chairs and enjoy the outdoors. Museum galleries close at 5 p.m., however, the H-E-B Science Treehouse remains open until 7 p.m. Food and drink available for purchase by Picante Grill. Witte Museum Boot Scoot and 5K Fun Run Put on your running shoes and join us for the Witte Museum Boot Scoot and 5K Fun Run! The proceeds from this event will benefit the scholarship fund supporting school group field trips to the Witte Museum. This morning run through Brackenridge Park kicks off the festivities for the opening weekend of the Witte’s new Robert J. and Helen C. Kleberg South Texas Heritage Center. The Witte Museum Boot Scoot and 5K Fun Run will not be like any other fun run in town, it has a special Witte twist! Everyone is encouraged to change into boots after the run for a boot scoot at 9:15 a.m. in front of the museum. Click here for more information or to register. June 2012Texas Nature Challenge at the Witte Museum Get ready to complete a nature challenge by exploring the South Texas environment at the Witte while visiting the Texas Wild exhibit, the Edwards Aquifer Simulation Theater and the new Robert J. and Helen C. Kleberg South Texas Heritage Center. The Louis A. and Frances B. Wagner Lecture Series: In 1831, Charles Darwin set sail aboard the HMS Beagle on an extraordinary voyage that would lead to his groundbreaking theory of evolution by natural selection. This theory turned the world on its head and remains unchallenged as the key principle of modern biology. Join us on our journey of discovery.
