Art for History's Sake

Print E-mail

Morning Glory by Mary Motz WillsArt for History's Sake August 16 - November 30, 2008
Piper Memorial Wing from the Witte collection

In the Introduction to the book Art for History's Sake: The Texas Collection of the Witte Museum, William Goetzmann writes, "Few collections illustrate images of ethnicity, common people, religious diversity, class structure, and female achievement like the Witte collection." While not composed exclusively of historical images, the exhibit will chronicle San Antonio and Texas history through its scenes and changing styles.

Curated by Kate Sheerin and Bruce Shackelford.
