Celebrate the people who shaped the state during a Texas-sized, hybrid experience at the 4th annual Conference on Texas: From Tejas to Texas featuring the 10th annual Texas Trailblazers Awards on May 13-14, 2021. The success of the combined virtual event in 2020 has spurred us to once again offer these two events together – both on the Witte campus and remotely. Prepare to be amazed at the quality of presenters when simultaneous panels create a synergy of experience and exchange among attendees and speakers!
The Conference on Texas: From Tejas to Texas will reveal new stories of the people that shaped Texas. Delve into topics such as: the Indigenous people who lived in what we now call Texas, why and how the Spanish missions were built, everyday life in early San Antonio de Bexár, the role of the French legation, the Civil War, Women Ranchers, Black Cowboys, Juneteenth, traditional healing and Curanderismo, Space Cowboys and explore the Lone Star State as a Big Wonderful Thing by Stephan Harrigan. Texas Music, American Tacos, and Los Adaes, the first capitol of Texas, and much more.
