Losing Daylight 1

Losing Daylight

I look at this photograph and I remember the sound of the herd, cows and calves calling one another, both the herdsmen and the herd knowing it would soon be dark.

The last work was always the most time consuming. The dry cows were always pushing to the center of the herd. They might be the slick fat ones but they were not nursing a calf and waiting to see if a calf “mothered up” with a cow was a process of slow elimination.
