This is Reynaldo de Luna leading his gelding to the herd. We were working cattle in the Stillman pasture at Norias in February. The winter mist creates a muffled blanket over the sounds of the remuda near the roundup ground and a sense of reverence for the coming day. I look at that photograph and can hear the gentle rustle of the remuda milling. The Stillman was a great place to work cattle, it is sandy and the ground was soft and easy on the horses. The softness of those foggy mornings was almost tangible and held the scent of boiling coffee, mesquite smoke and camp bread in Dutch ovens over the campfire.
