B. Naylor Morton Research and Collections Center
To celebrate the Witte Museum’s renowned collections, this innovative center has been created to provide visible access to the vast and diverse collection when not on display in the museum’s galleries. The Center allows museum professionals to preserve the collection through proper light levels, temperature and humidity control, while providing access to visitors and researchers from around the world.
The Dickson Allen Orientation Gallery offers a thematic overview of the collection, organized in seven color-coded categories, as well as new acquisitions and iconic Witte artifacts. As the Center expands, visitors will have the opportunity to explore the breadth and depth of each collection category.
The Texas Art Storage Gallery showcases the museum’s complete collection of Texas Art. Paintings are arranged alphabetically by artist on racks visible to the public. Those racks closest to the visitor offer a curated overview of the collection. The configuration of the racks changes routinely to provide new experiences for visitors.
The Express-News Reading Room provides a space where visitors can browse resources related to the collection and search the collection database using provided kiosks. Researchers can access the Witte Museum Archives by appointment. Please use the reference request form, and the archivist will assist you in locating possible materials of interest prior to your visit and reserve a desk for you in the reading room.
Included in general museum admission.
