26th Annual Rock Art Rendezvous

February 25 – 27, 2022

Experience the wonder of the Lower Pecos Canyonlands at the 26th Annual Rock Art Rendezvous. The Rendezvous is a weekend of fun, friendship and guided tours of some of the most remarkable rock art sites in the world.

SOLD OUT Weekend ticket $150 per person includes:

  • Camping spot at the White Shaman Preserve tent or trailer (26’ max) 
  • Interactive demonstrations including Atlatl throwing and making cordage by the Witte’s Education Team
  • Nature Walk Friday evening
  • Cowboy coffee and sweet rolls on Saturday and Sunday mornings
  • Rudy’s BBQ dinner and campfire Saturday night with Night Sky programming to follow
  • Tour options: The White Shaman, Tinaja Canyon, Meyers Spring Ranch (includes Meyers Spring Shelter and Fort Meyers), Eagle Nest Canyon Tour (includes Bonfire Shelter, Kelley Cave, Skiles Shelter and Eagle Cave), Seminole Canyon (includes Fate Bell and Fate Bell Annex Shelters) and Upper Canyon Tour (includes Running Horse and Seminole Spring Shelters)
  • There will be a Witte store onsite and a raffle Saturday night.

VIEW SATURDAY SCHEDULE

REGISTER – SATURDAY ONLY

Arrival/Departure and Facilities:

Gates will open noon on Friday, February 25th.  All visitors are to depart no later than 5pm on Sunday, February 27th.

Any vehicle can navigate the White Shaman Preserve road and all roads to the tour locations.

Tour signup begins the beginning of each day at 7:00 a.m.  Tour space is limited and is on a first come, first served basis.  Spots on tours are not guaranteed unless you sign up.  See attached for tour listings.

The White Shaman Preserve does not have electricity, restrooms or potable water.  Portable toilets and a water trailer for handwashing will be available.  All Rock Art Rendezvous participants have access to the restroom and shower facilities at Seminole Canyon State Park.

Entrance and tours fees for Seminole Canyon State Park will be paid by the Witte Museum.

Important Notice:

All Witte Museum Rock Art Rendezvous participants must complete and sign the Liability Release Form before participating.  Please read carefully.  You will be asked to sign this form while on site. By signing this form and participating, you also confirm that you have read and will abide by the Tour Guidelines and Expectations.

Reservations and Cancellations: 

All reservations for the Rock Art Rendezvous must be paid in advance.  Cancellations must be made a minimum of 14 days prior to the tour to receive a full refund.  Cancellations made after the 14 day minimum are non-refundable.  Guided tours may be cancelled due to weather conditions, extreme heat/cold, limited participation, road conditions, lake/river levels, etc.  For the safety of the group and at the discretion of the Guide, tours may be cancelled at any stage during the tour for any reason.  The Rendezvous goes on, rain or shine.

Health and Safety: 

Participants must be aware of the remote and difficult environmental conditions and terrain into which our tours travel. Participants must be able to traverse rugged terrain. This involves hiking considerable distances, scrambling over rocks and boulders, steep ascents and steep descents, walking in or over loose rock, rappelling up/down a rope and through dense brush. At any time of the year desert heat can be extreme. In most cases medical help and trauma care are several hours away.  Tours are not suitable for children under age 12.  All minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Additional Details:

The White Shaman property is a nature preserve.  Generators, pets and ground fires are prohibited.  We ask all participants to observe quiet time from 11pm to 6 am.  Please make every effort to consolidate vehicles on off-site tours.  A large wood grill for cooking will be available for your use in the camp area. You may bring gas stoves – no charcoal grills please.  Fill your gas tanks prior to arriving at the Rendezvous if you plan to take offsite tours.

There are numerous hotels in Del Rio however Del Rio is 45 minutes from the White Shaman Preserve, so please plan accordingly.
