Rock Art Tours: Running Deer Shelter

8:00 am - 1:00 pm

Join the Witte Museum for a hiking tour to the Running Deer Shelter!

This rare opportunity offers access to an extraordinary rock art site that has been inaccessible for several years. Tucked deep within a canyon near Halo Shelter and the Devils River, Running Deer features striking Pecos River style pictographs, including a series of deer that appear to move across the rock wall. Explore this remarkable site and step into a story preserved on stone for centuries.

The Witte Museum thanks the landowners for their stewardship of this unique cultural resource and for graciously providing access.
