Witte Watercolors: Designing Defenses

6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Ready for an evening of creativity, conversation and a touch of adventure? Explore science through art at the Witte Museum’s Designing Defenses!

Do you know all the spectacular ways that nature fights back? Explore some of the world’s most awe-inspiring animals and the defensive adaptations they use to survive and thrive in their natural habitats. Create your own watercolor study of Texas-native wildlife inspired by the Witte’s latest exhibition, Staying Alive: Animal Defenses.

Join the Witte team and San Antonio-based artist Alicia McAllen, whose work focuses on the beauty of Texas native flora and fauna, and whose designs are featured in her western wear clothing brand Estancia Clothing. Guided by Alicia, you will find the beauty in fangs, scales, feathers and more!

What’s included:

  • Meet & greet with the Witte’s live animal collection!
  • All the supplies to create a watercolor study
  • An assortment of snacks and wine to fuel your creativity
  • Private, guided tours of Staying Alive with Witte educators
