No matter what your interest, you will find a fun and exciting volunteer opportunity at the Witte Museum. We have volunteers in their teens, college students, adults and families who make a difference every day at the Witte. If you want to learn new things and share your talents with others, the Witte Museum wants you!
ADMINISTRATIVE VOLUNTEERS assist the staff with administrative projects such as scanning, filing and answering phones. These volunteers should be detail oriented. Administrative Volunteers would need to be available weekday mornings or afternoons.

GALLERY VOLUNTEERS assist the staff by greeting visitors to the museum, promoting membership and special exhibitions, answering general questions and creating a welcoming and friendly environment for our visitors. These volunteers focus on specific collections or exhibits and facilitate hands-on activities with visitors. Specific duties include being able to answer questions and provide information on the exhibits in question. Volunteers are trained in the content area of specific exhibits and may work on weekdays, weekends, Tuesday evenings or special events.
MUSEUM STORE VOLUNTEERS assist the staff with greeting customers, re-stocking products and merchandising. These volunteers should be detailed oriented and help create a friendly environment for our visitors. Store volunteers may work on weekdays, weekends and Tuesday evenings.
PUBLIC PROGRAM VOLUNTEERS assist in many different ways such as helping with scheduled teacher workshops, daily content-specific demonstrations, and family days at the museum and outreach programs in the community. Public Program Volunteers are called upon to help as events are scheduled which may occur on evening and weekends.
SCHOOL PROGRAM VOLUNTEERS assist with facilitation of scheduled group programs for school children. School Group Programs are age-specific (K-12) and are complimentary to the museum’s collection, exhibits and state education standards. The programs are held on weekday mornings. Volunteers for these programs complete extensive training to acquaint them with the exhibits and activities. This program requires dependable individuals who can make a substantial time commitment. The Witte presents programs in the following core initiatives: Science, South Texas Heritage and Natural History and Health and Wellness.
CORPORATE VOLUNTEERS may volunteer individually or as a group. We have several volunteer opportunities available for Employee Volunteer Programs. Please contact the Volunteer and Internship Program Manager for more information.
